If you want to try a Savage risk free, and you live close enough, I'd be more than happy to let you try mine. I have't done any of the real hardcore modifications to it so far, and what I have done I can easily reverse( except the repainting process, once per bike per year is enough :-) ). As far as keeping or trading off/selling the V-Star, I'd hang on to it for now. Used stock Savages aren't all that expensive (even new is a good deal), so you could let the star sit up for awhile while you ride a Savage. I've outgrown mine, but then again, I'm 6'2" tall, about 215 or so in weight, and am used to riding the truly screwy bikes, like antique British, falling apart HD's, beat up Indians, etc ad naseum. Of course, since I'm in the Memphis area, it isn't likely you'd be able to test ride mine. However, if for some reason you and your husband are in the area before you decide about star vs Savage, the offer stands. I would say come to the rally we're hosting and see what you think then, but the bike is already promised to someone else for that time period.

PS: Come to the rally anyway. If you could find this site, you'd be more than welcome to join up with us for the weekend. Anyone who's willing to keep an open mind about bikes in general, the Savage especially, and can deal with those of us who are regular posters here is welcome at this site and any of our events, anywhere, anytime.
